Youth United’s Hoops for Habitat

On Saturday, April 1, 2017Habitat CFC’s Youth United group held its 8th Annual “Hoops for Habitat” basketball-scoring competition, clinic and fundraising event at the McGivney Center in Bridgeport.

We were thrilled to have Senator Richard Blumenthal, State Representative Christopher Rosario and Mayor Joe Ganim stop by as well as City Council Members Milta Feliciano and Aidee Nieves. Even News 12 Connecticut got in on the fun!

Former UCONN and NBA Timberwolves player Chris Smith ran the basketball clinic, and participants in the scoring competition were divided into five divisions, then given a limited amount of time to make as many baskets as possible. Prizes were awarded to the top scorer in each division.

The funds raised through the event will go towards Youth United’s 5th sponsored Habitat CFC home build at 63 Waldorf St in Bridgeport.
