Volunteers are needed to help build!

Habitat CFC provides many volunteer opportunities throughout the year for individuals ages 5 and up. Volunteer on your own or with one of our affinity programs such as Women Build, Habitat for Heroes or Youth United. Whether you are interested in swinging a hammer, organizing a fundraiser or serving on a committee, we welcome your participation.

For their own safety, we do not allow individuals under the age of 16 on active build sites. Volunteers aged 16-17 must have an adult (21 years or older) with them throughout the day if they plan to build with us onsite. We encourage those unable to join us onsite to get involved with Youth United, a program focused on giving kids and young adults from different backgrounds, faiths and organizations the opportunity to work together to sponsor and build a house with Habitat CFC.

Volunteering as a group provides a wonderful team building opportunity through hands-on community service. Among the statements we’ve heard from group volunteers are:

It was a great way to bring our younger and older members together.

Today was a real learning experience for our group, thank you Habitat.

My congregation is committed to helping this community.

We have learned the value of working for others in need in our neighborhood.

Additionally, with your group’s financial contribution, Habitat CFC is able to transform neighborhoods and build better lives. Your gifts not only help build homes, but they also fund the educational services that teach our families about budgeting, everyday finance and conflict resolution.

If you would like to sign up to volunteer as a group, please contact Eileen Bakos, Manager of Corporate and Volunteer Engagement, at ebakos@habitatcfc.org or (203) 333-2642. Let us know how many people are in your group and if you have specific dates in mind when you call or email so that we can plan accordingly.
