Message from our
President & CEO
Habitat for Humanity of
Coastal Fairfield County has an ambitious building program in
process and aspiring goals for the future. We have finished a
year of tremendous transition and accomplishment. We face a
year of challenge and uncertainty.
We
face a time of economic uncertainty and social adversity the
likes of which we have not faced since the Great Depression. We
are facing unemployment, financial hardship, foreclosures, and
the displacement of good hard-working families. Although this
crisis has touched people at every level of society, families at
the lower end of the economic ladder have been hit the hardest.
We need your support.
Although we face a year of uncertainty and challenge, this
year will set the direction of our affiliate for decades to
come. We have the two most significant builds we have ever
undertaken in the continued renovation of our historic building
on William Street into 12 affordable condominiums, and we are
expanding our reach as we break ground on our 8-unit condominium
in Stamford. We will usher in a new era for our affiliate as we
build and move into our New Operations Center, which will
facilitate for decades to come our ability to build simple,
decent, affordable homes in a clean, safe, efficient manner.
All of this we undertake during a time of economic weakness and
uncertainty. There is no greater time when we must work
together and pool our strengths as a team to accomplish a legacy
of a lifetime for our affiliate, our donors and volunteers and
most importantly, the families we serve. But we cannot do it
without you.
We have accomplished much, and have much left to
do! Now is the time to redouble our efforts to build more safe,
decent, affordable homes for hard working, aspiring, low-income
families. Now more than ever is the time to work together to
transform blighted neighborhoods into beacons of hope that unite
people from every part of our community.
Our partnerships with individuals and groups from every
facet of our wonderfully diverse community make these incredible
projects possible. And to see the smile on a parent or child
with their first home makes it all worthwhile. Where else can
you return years later and see the lasting impact of your
volunteer labor or donation in a neighborhood full of safe
decent homes, along with the smiles of proud parents and the
laughter of children who will always know that people really can
make a difference.
Now more than ever, together we can build homes,
and build hope! We ask you to “Help Build It!” On behalf of
everyone at Habitat and all of our partner families, thank you
for your support.
We pray for
your support and God’s blessing in all we do.
Best to you,
Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County
